Degenerate Age

• Degenerate age refers to unfavorable circumstances to practice dharma.
• We live in degenerate age. The degenerations are increasing.

The five degenerations:

a) Afflictions are getting stronger. This means awareness is getting weaker. We want happiness but follow the causes of suffering.

b) View is getting more obscured. This means we fixate outside on things as real.

c) Lifespan is getting shorter.

d) Our merit is getting weaker. This means our self-grasping is getting stronger.

e) Elements are getting more unstable.
