Four Obscurations

Four Obscurations: Due to the four obscurations, our mind has become like ice. They prevent us from seeing the Buddha Nature.

1) Ignorance: Habit of grasping as real. Not recognizing the True Nature of mind. Not recognizing that actions and afflictions are empty of self-nature.

2) Conceptual obscurations: Dualistic grasping. Notion of ‘I’ and ‘other’. This has become a habit because we have lived countless lives. Imprints.

3) Afflictive emotions: 84,000 ways in which ‘I’ relates to ‘other’. We engage in actions based on afflictive emotions.

4) Karma: Actions based on afflictive emotions. This establishes the karmic body. Otherwise we would have rainbow body.
